Amy Schumer, the Man Mirror face, and Confidence

Amy Schumer, the Man Mirror face, and Confidence

Last week a friend of mine was over, and as she walked up the stairs I blurted out, "Ohhh, I wish I had your hair!" On a rainy day, she can do nothing but accept her locks which were curling out of control. She said exactly what I thought she would, "I wish I had your hair. I spend hours trying to straighten mine."

Women complain non-stop about their bodies, hair, skin and any feature they might not like.

When I was younger, I wanted to be short. I always thought it would be amazing to have a man gracefully sweep me off my feet. My Korean Sisters are tiny enough to be swept up into the air, and they wanted eyes like mine. One of them spent time in front of the mirror pulling her eyes back.

My eldest daughter showed me a video of Amy Schumer on YouTube last week. I made me laugh because the men in my life have the man mirror face she explains in this clip; confidence we women often lack.  I laughed and thought how I fail at times at setting this example. Wouldn't it be great to raise kids who look in the mirror and are happy with how they look?

I have given up any hopes of being swept off my feet, my husband has tried, and it is more of a grunting, clumsy how can I get her off the ground kind of action with us ending up falling over and laughing. He loves me just the way I am; I should be overjoyed, shouldn't complain and set a better example...
