What does that word mean? Misunderstandings

What does that word mean? Misunderstandings

– Inconcievable!"
– You keep using that word; I don't think that means what you think it means!

If you've ever watched the princess bride, you'll remember those lines. On numerous occasions what I thought I said turned out to be something very different.

One of my most embarrassing moments was working with teens. I explained something and the whole class understood a problematic concept. They nearly cheered they were so excited. As I pretended to brush something off my shoulder and boasted with some arrogance and a drawl, " I know...I'm good!" The entire class of French-speaking teens then burst into laughter.  I knew I had said something wrong. In French, this statement also means that I am excellent in bed! Yes, I said this to teens in a school setting.

Last night my daughter showed me a video of emotions and words in different languages. (Take a look its funny) Regardless of your language skills you'll have a good laugh and maybe find a new favorite word. Some languages take a whole new spin on emotions.

My husband and I are celebrating twenty-seven years of marriage today. We also have had twenty-seven years to explain our languages to each other and even after all those years...we are still learning and I still embarrass myself on occasion.
