Birthday Parties

Birthday Parties

As a kid  I was one of 11!  It was interesting to say the least and my Mom was a real manager, a micro manager.

I never had a big birthday party but I never had a small one either. 11 kids plus Mom and Dad and a friend that makes 14 people. We kept it simple. We would always choose what food we wanted to eat. I am a summer birthday girl and I love hamburgers and hotdogs. I have to admit that hamburgers are just about my favorite food still today and I have eaten in some of the top restaurants in Europe. You can’t beat a great hamburger and my Dad knows how to make them. I was raised in sleepy Farmington, Utah so up the mountain or into the backyard we went. We ate, talked and had cake together.

What do I remember from my birthdays? Is it expensive gifts? No! Lots of friends and the most popular kids? No! Is is fancy venues? No! I remember hamburgers, cake, laughter, love, some wasps ( I got stung on my birthday once you can’t forget that) and being the princess of the family for the day. It wasn’t money that gave me the feeling that it was my special day, it was the love my family had for me. This is what has made me the strong person I am, the girl that could venture out into the world. Create memories of love, concentrate less on the gifts. Love is what will be remembered!
